Equine Time

Equine Assisted Psychotherapy and Learning

Our Vision

To improve the mental health of regional communities through the psychological intervention of Equine Assisted Psychotherapy and Learning.

Our Mission

We aim to offer programmes of excellence to people within the Wollondilly, Wingecarribee, Macarthur and Illawarra regions. We provides an alternative evidenced based treatment to traditional “talk therapy” and yet is grounded in the major psychological theories of our modern age..

About EAP

Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) is an evidence-based, solution-focussed psychological strategy.  It offers experiential learning opportunities for a wide range of people.

A licensed mental health professional, an equine specialist and a team of horses constitute the therapy team.  A client or clients are asked to engage in groundwork activities with the horses followed by the opportunity to reflect on their learning at the end of each session.

Sessions are usually 50 minutes which is similar to counselling and a client may attend weekly appointments until their treatment goals are attained.  Research has demonstrated that EAP assists people more quickly than other “talking” therapies.

Equine Time is proud to offer a range of programmes for individuals and families.

EAP provides effective treatment for psychological disorders in children, adolescents and adults.  Family relationships are improved through EAP.  It is especially useful for people with complex needs and language or communication difficulties.

Equine Assisted Learning is effective for groups who wish to solve problems and improve relationships.  Health and welfare professionals may attend sessions for clinical supervision and professional development.  Corporate groups may attend for corporate planning, leadership development and to improve team relationships.
